Reputation points are a measure of "trust" of the community to a particular user. The more reputation points, the more useful content the user has provided. Reputation points are awarded by the community. Good answers and interesting questions are voted up, what adds up to the reputation of the post owner. Incorrect answers or badly constructed questions are voted down, which reduces the reputation of the user.

Gaining reputation points unlocks new moderation privileges. The more the community trusts the given user, the more moderation tools become available to that user.

The table below presents how the reputation points are awarded.

Asking questions
Posting a question:	+ 1 point
Selecting an answer for your question:	+ 1 point
Per up vote on your question:	+ 4 points (max +40 points per question)
Per down vote on your question:	- 4 points (max -40 points per question)
Answering questions
Posting an answer:	+ 1 point
Having your answer selected as the best:	+ 10 points
Per up vote on your answer:	+ 5 points (max +50 points per answer)
Per down vote on your answer:	- 5 points (max -50 points per answer)
Posting comments
Per up vote on your comment:	+ 1 point (max +3 points per comment)
Per down vote on your comment:	- 1 point (max -3 points per comment)
Improving posts
Per post edit:	+ 1 point (max +500 points per edits)
