Is it possible to summon another Thornfire Wolf wihtout without killing or transforming one first?

For example, if I summon one Thornfire Wolf, but don't kill or transform him to a Crystal Wolf, and keep using the buckets at burning walls, another one will appear or I have to kill one first?
