how How does the interaction between attack and offensive abilities (spells, runes) is supposed to work?

I started playing in 2006 on a mage with wand but don't remember the auto attack option would be denied immediatly immediately after a spell or offensive rune.

Watching old tibia, (<7.4) I came across a video where Setzer Gambler (legendary MS from Julera) where he hunts Hydras with Burst Arrows and HMM. Sometimes if he timed HMM before an arrow hit, the arrow would only be shot on next turn. I thought this was reworked 7.6 onwards since I don't remember having this issue on my mage around 2006~2007. I started playing again this year and while hunting on my knight (free acc), acc), I noticed any offensive rune thrown on the wrong time would inhibit an auto attack, effectivily effectively making you lose an auto attack turn. My question is, is this suppose to be like this?

ps:

ps: also if you are using direction keys the char won't fire a ranged attack (wand attack from what I tested) until you stop a little from pressing the direction keys
