Any house that has one of those counters (usually with a flip up gate to walk through through) that separates a room is considered a shop. I believe they all (or at least most) have a blackboard you can write on. It made more sense in the old days when players sold their items in person before the market so people could see what they offer then stand in their house while the player comes and sells them the item.
