What is the purpose of the Island a player can travel to after completing The Great Expedition?

What is the purpose of The Great Expedition Isle a player can travel to after the completion of The Great Expedition World Event?

On the isle there is a path from the boat to what appears to be a sealed gate.

Is there a secret reward? Hunting Spawn? Or is it just for appearances?

It’s just the stone path on the water and the sandstone tiles that lead to the gate. I just wanted to give description of the isle itself
