Is It possible to tame the Gryphon without completing Kilmaresh quest?

Hi, I just wanted to ask if it's possible to buy the pieces of the item (The regalia of suon) and put them together to get the full item if you haven't done the kilmaresh quest.

No, It is not. Even if you collect the items by yourself by killing the Urmahlullu for example, you won't be able to Tame It if you haven't completes the quest.

I am not 100% sure (I have not done this quest) but most likely the answer is "no" because the situation may be similar to The Gravedigger of Drefia Quest and Gravedigger mount which cannot be tamed without first completing the quest so here it can be similar and even if you have the whole object assembled, you won't be able to tame the griffin.
