Does the floor on the way to Brain Head boss always makes a dmg?

On the way to Brain Head boss on every floor we get some amount of dmg when we walk on slime. Is there anyway to avoid it?

After killing the boss Brain Head you'll no longer take damage walking on the floor.

This is valid for the whole cave.
