Is it possible to do Demon Oak without doing the Killing in the Name of quest?

Let's say I wanted to do a shortcut and buy a Holy Icon to do The Demon Oak quest right away without starting the Killing in the Name of Quest. Is it possible to do a shortcut so I don't have to do tasks from Killing in the Name of?
