Is it possible to open the Soul War reward box before getting the Revenant Outfit?

He has the Revenant Outfit, but the "Soul War" quest is not marked as complete in his profile, which makes me wonder: is it possible to open the reward box before getting the outfit? If it is possible, people could trick others into buying a char thinking that he hasn't completed the Soul War quest, but the reward box would be already open.

As far as I'm aware you get the outfit once you defeat Goshnar's Megalomania. The quest is completed once you report the boss' death to the NPC in the Soul War lobby, which grants you access to the reward chest.

"you get the outfit once you defeat Goshnar" makes sense, but if you need to talk with the npc to open the door and the quest is marked as completed in this moment before you open the box, why would someone sell a char so cheap before opening the box? That's not exactly what I've asked in the question, so I'm accepting your answer because your source says that you get the outfit before the box, not after

You don't have to talk to the NPC to get the item. Most players don't. You only have to talk to the NPC to be able to use the mount items. I'd say "everyone" knows that a character with the outfit has completed the quest and taken the item though, you'd have to be very naive to believe someone would sell a character with the reward just laying there ready to be taken.
