A friend of mine was thinking of starting a fansite. This made a question on my mind recently. I've been browsing the fansite programme rules and Tibia Rules and can't find a clear answer. Therefore, I would like to ask this question here. Can fansites advertise content related to OTS?

No, they can't. Tibia is a product made by Cipsoft and any third-party server is not official, hence they would not accept any Fansite if they speak/are related to OTs.

Editing, since there are some conflicts in the answers:

Let's just say that you create a product, it becomes really popular, then somehow someone steals that product: Would you let any user give propaganda to the "copy" product in your official communacation streams? (Propoted and supported sites ARE officialy recognized by Cipsoft). There is also the case of TibiaBR, which people say that they left the program to talk about OTs, add advertisement on their own (when Cipsoft didn't allow it) and etc.

You can also read this statement in the fansite agreement: Rule #6

"The content of the fansite has to be about Tibia only. We set high standards, therefore your fansite needs to be updated regularly. Please make sure that the information given on your website is correct and fair. The texts on your site should also be accurate concerning their grammar and spelling. We also expect you to have a professional and appealing design. If your fansite should become a promoted fansite, your content always needs to be up-to-date."

OTs ARE NOT TIBIA (The product TIBIA, even if the graphics and a lot if things are like Tibia), which supports my answer.

''11. You have to make sure that the Tibia Rules are followed on your site. For instance, there should not be any trading of accounts via your forum or any trading of characters/items for real life money etc. in any threads. Also, screenshots containing any cheat tool advertisements need to be avoided and removed immediately as soon as you learn about them.''

Is this point really about that? I also don't claim that the answer is wrong. It probably is correct. However, I would like to find some clear legal basis that says it is forbidden to advertise OTS-related content on fansites.
