How it was possible to obtain soft boots before poi was implemented?

I wonder if anyone know if there was any possibility to obtain soft boots before poi quest. Soft boots exist since 2002 tibia version 7.1 so 4 years before poi was added to game. I think there was some screenshot of player named Mulf who had soft boots back then. Thanks for replies!

Since I know you couldnt get soft boots before update. The same sprite was used to the Waterwalking boots but it wasnt until the update that they release that sprite with the name of Soft boots.

Yeah, they were obtainable since poi was added, but player Mulf he had soft boots way back before poi was added. He had also other rares but soft boots made me think how did he have them before.
