We’ve all been there before. You’re hunting a spawn that you’re new to or have just gotten too comfortable in. You’ve pulled way too much and now you’re boxed/trapped and are now dying. What are some things you can do to save yourself?

The most important thing you can do when you’re in a sticky situation is to stay calm. If you panic, it’s more likely that you will forget the resources available and just end up button mashing until you run out of HP. Each vocation handles it a bit differently so let me break down some recommendations by vocation.

MAGE

If you’re solo hunting in a spawn and you realize you’ve pulled more than you can handle, instead of running straight into the next group of creatures, you can run the creatures in circles and wave/aoe them down. In narrow passages where you can’t run in circles, you can run in an “S” pattern as shown in the image. Doing this will give you more time to kill the creatures and only allow the creatures to attack you.

If worse comes to worse and you are now trapped by creatures, it’s important to know what your character can handle. If you’re unable to out heal the damage dealt, it’s time to mana shield. Stone skin amulets and might rings will lessen the damage dealt and give you additional time to kill your way out.

Use your familiar to pull creatures off you in case you are boxed. It will get you out of the box faster than trying to kill your way out the majority of the time. Make sure to target a creature in the box, let the familiar challenge the creatures around it, then retarget to another creature outside of the box. This way it will pull creatures off of you freeing you from the box.

If your mana has been depleted, you can use a blessed steak or a blueberry cupcake. The blessed stake has a cool down of 10 minutes which is shared with all other Jean Pierre dishes and hireling dishes. The blueberry cupcake has a cooldown of 10 minutes which is not shared with the blessed stake. This means for example you use the blessed stake, run out of mana again, you can eat the blueberry cupcake to completely fill your mana again.

Once you are out of mana, it will be really challenging but you can use mana shield potions to protect your HP. Make sure the mana shield potions are hotkeyed and easily accessible as well.

Hopefully, by this point you’re able to kill your way out of the situation.

KNIGHT

If your HP is going down and your druid‘s sio aren’t enough, make sure you cast utamo tempo and use supreme health potions. Do not wait until you're in yellow or red HP to start doing this or it will be too late.

Continue doing damage to the creatures around you to kill your way out and your life leech imbuement should help with healing.

If your HP continues to go down, use might rings. Add stone skin amulets if you need additional protection.

Once your HP is low, use your Exura Gran Ico spell but keep in mind this spell has a cooldown of 10 minutes.

If you’re still losing HP, using a Pot of Blackjack will give you 5,000 HP. There is a 10 minute cooldown before you can use it again. Keep in mind you can use the same Pot of Blackjack 4 times.

Then it’s time to use the Strawberry cupcake which will refill your health. There is a 10 minute cooldown before you can use another strawberry cupcake.

You should also carry a blueberry cupcake since your healing and utamo tempo can’t be sustained while holding supremes. Remember, the strawberry and blueberry cupcakes are on separate cooldowns so both can be used.

PALADIN

If you’re team hunting and side boxing with the knight, you can use an energy ring to keep your HP up until the box dies.

If you’re trapped, you should use stone skin amulets and might rings immediately. When your health is low, switch to an energy ring to get your health up with Ultimate Spirit Potions.

Just like knights, continue doing damage to the creatures around you to kill your way out and your life leech imbuement should help with healing. Use exura gran san and not runes because it won’t deal enough damage for life leech.

If your health continues to drop, you can use a hireling food. The Consecrated Beef will restore 30% of your character’s maximum mana.

Then it’s time to use a blueberry cupcake to refill your mana and repeat using SSA/ m rings/ e rings.

After this, it’s time to use the strawberry cupcake and use supreme spirit potions to get your mana up and continue the cycle until you’re out of danger.

ALL VOCATIONS

If you are overrun by creatures and can’t make it to safety, utilize the terrain to your advantage. If you can maneuver yourself against a wall or object to reduce the number of creatures hitting you, this will be a huge advantage. Additionally, you can throw magic/tree walls to take up additional squares beside yourself. Depending on the creature, you can also use bombs and walls to protect yourself by limiting the creatures pulled or just keeping them off you. Just make sure they can’t walk over the field type you are using.

Use your summon. As I mentioned, mage summons are great for pulling creatures off you in case you are boxed. Knight and Paladin summons can stop outside creatures from targeting you.

If you’re team hunting and you need help, voice it out to the team. I’ve been in situations where a mage will use mana potions on a team member. The knight can also use health potions on a team member. In addition to druid heals, the sorcerer and paladin can use UHs as backup healer.

Using a Kooldown-Aid potion can reset all of your spell cooldowns. This means any spells with long cooldowns can be used back to back so time them wisely. This will help knights with their Exura Gran Ico spell and mages with their UE spells. Summons will also be off cooldown as well.

If you are feared, the only way to heal is to use a carrion casserole from the hireling or strawberry cupcake. Mages can UH themselves.

As I mentioned before, it’s important to know what your character can handle. I recommend running spawns and taking a box of creatures DURING TEST SERVER. By running spawns, you can learn your way around a spawn and can identify safe areas. You’ll also learn if you’re able to run the spawn or if it’s too dense and dangerous to run. By taking a box of creatures, you’ll know how hard they hit and the appropriate measures to take if you end up boxed. If you can out heal the damage taken, you’ll know that you’re not in too much trouble.

Depending on the spawn, stone skin amulets may not be the best option. Make sure you’re using the best amulet for the spawn. For example, in Sacred Tree amulets in Rotten, Leviathan amulets in Dark Thais, and Shockwave amulets in Crater.

Practice using Stone Skin Amulets and Might rings. You can do this in drome where there is no death penalty. Hotkey these 2 items and make sure they are easily accessible. A stone skin amulet has 5 charges and provides +80% death and physical protection. A might ring has 20 charges and has +20% physical, fire, earth, energy, ice, holy, and death protection. Know what kind of damage you're facing, use the appropriate item, and work on your timing to put on a new amulet and ring as soon as they run out.

Keep in mind different spawns have different mechanics but these recommendations are applicable to most situations. Happy hunting!

I love this answer purely for the first line. I'm constantly educating my team with the exact same mindset. Tibia is an easy game in many regards. Most deaths are preventable simply by remaining calm. Also the use of stone skin amulets as you pointed out (or other similar amulets depending on the element your facing) are far too underused in my opinion by all players. When it doubt, put one on. Cheaper then bless, and it makes the remaining calm thing a whole lot easier too.

Thank you! I can't tell you how many times I've panicked myself and just being so disappointed of how I reacted during crucial moments. I had all the tools to survive but forgot to use them in the heat of the moment. Everyone will die from time to time but we can all learn to be better prepared for the the next one.
