The Weapon Proficiency System, introduced in Summer Update 2025, allows players to gain Proficiency Progress for a weapon by killing creatures while it is equipped or by using a Proficiency Catalyst. As the proficiency rises for a specific weapon, different perks are unlocked and become available for that character when using that weapon if the class requirements for using it are met.
The Weapon Proficiency System, introduced in the Summer Update 2025, allows characters to gain proficiency progress with a weapon by killing creatures while it is equipped or by using a Proficiency Catalyst. As proficiency increases, perks are unlocked and can be used if the character meets the weapon's class requirements.
Core Mechanics:
Progress is earned by killing creatures with the weapon equipped or by using runes (including fields).
Direct hits with the weapon are not required.
Only creatures with a Bestiary or Bosstiary entry count for progress.
Influenced or Fiendish creatures grant a +10% bonus per stack.
Summoned creatures and Dawnport-only creatures (e.g., Mountain Troll) do not count.
Perks and Selection:
One perk per proficiency level (up to level 7) can be unlocked.
Only one perk per level can be active at a time.
First-time selection can be done anywhere, but changing or removing perks is only possible in Protection Zones.
Progression and Mastery:
Proficiency progress is character-bound and non-transferable.
Progress follows the same rules as Bestiary: all players contributing to the kill gain progress.
Reaching levels beyond the perk cap unlocks Mastery, which grants titles and achievements, but no gameplay bonuses.
There are currenty about 630 Weapons with proficiency tables.
