Why do we get 2500 free hunting task points?

When interacting with Walter Jaeger after the Winter 2025 update, the following dialogue can be encountered, even by characters that have not completed a hunting task. 

"Walter Jaeger: Dear hunters! Due to your heroic and persistent efforts it was possible to keep populations of monsters at a moderate level. Hence I want to thank all of you with a one time reward of 2500 hunting task points (HTP)."

Why was this change made to award free points to players?

Same, but looks like just reward in paid for the change of system and to promote the use of it. Like the free samples at markets.

Many players had hunting tasks in progress when the winter update was released.

In order to compensate players working on these tasks, all are given free 2500 points.
