Is there still paladin characters who can use energy beam?

In the past, spells were acquired by using spell scrolls, and the only requirement was a magic level, so some paladins gained the power to use Energy Beam, like sorcerers. However, this was very early in Tibia, so, does anyone know if any characters with this ability still exist today?

No — not anymore.

According to brazilian TibiaWiki, Spell Scrolls could once be used by any vocation as long as the character had the required magic level, and the classic scroll spells were Great Energy Beam, Summon Creature, Great Healing (maybe it refers to Ultimate Healing), and Ultimate Explosion. The same page even notes that some paladins on Antica had Great Energy Beam.

However, that exception no longer works. TibiaWiki Fandom says that characters with spells learned from scrolls only remained usable until Update 10.55 with the addition of Dawnport, when the game started enforcing vocation requirements when casting, not only when learning/buying the spell. This is stated both on the general Spell Scroll page and specifically on the Great Energy Beam and Summon Creature pages.

That also matches a 2014 TibiaBR report, which says the effects of old spell scrolls were removed; in other words, even if an old character still had the spell listed in the spellbook, it was no longer functional.

So no, they lost that ability on September 15, 2014. Today, all spells are only from their specific vocation. However, according to brazilian TibiaWiki, they remained in the spellbooks of characters who had once possessed them, without any functionality.

No. Paladins who learned this spell through scrolls lost the ability to use it years ago. Not just Energy Beam, but any other spell that doesn't belong to the character's vocation.
