What are the items or things you can get by using a treasure maps (Pirate)?

I just looted one from a Pirate and I'm wondering what's good with using these, I know you take them to treasure island and you're suppose to use them to get a reward, find a treasure or something, but:

Can you actually get items from the ground like this? and if so...
What Items can you get from it?

You don't get any Items from using the maps looted from the 3 out of 4 types of living Pirates (  Buccaneers, Marauders and  Cutthroats ) except for the ability to open one of the holes that lead to the tunnels below Treasure Island.  You must dig in one of the 5 spots listed below on Treasure Island to access these Tunnels

Opening one of these holes uses up one of the Pirate Treasure Maps so you must always have at least one map to enter the tunnels below

These maps differ from the maps you can buy on Treasure Island and can only be looted from the above mentioned Pirates
