What update and what was the first global merger in Tibia? was there any reason for this event?

Cipsoft first announced they were planning on merging game worlds on March 04, 2014. On May 23, 2014, it was announced that Kenora would be the first server to come forth out of a Game World Merge through the merging of Kyra, Nebula, and Thoria. Its actual creation took place on June 24, 2014.

The main purpose of this is to reduce the number of lowly-populated servers.
