How does Animus Mastery on a traded character work?

Hello all,

Simple question, I bought a char in bazaar some months ago and it shows 7 mastery unlocked in bestiary on character list. I believe the previous owner dropped those "cards" from creatures and won in the soulpit arena in order to unlock them, correct?

Well, I am a old player and was not even aware of this update, and looking at my bestiary now, there is more 4 creatures unlocked, with a total of 11. Now I ask, how is that possible if I haven't dropped any of these cards or either participated in the soulpit arena since my ownership of the character... does it unlock my simply killing a boosted level 5 boss or something like this? just trying to understand how it works.

Well since you bought the char the animus mastery stays in the char, it is already unlocked you don’t need to do anything

I know that, the thing is, I bought the character with only 7 creatures unlocked, and after playing a while (month or so) the char has now 11 unlocked creatures, 4 more than the "stock" I bought with. And I didnt do any arena was not even aware of those, might just have killed some fiendish creatures but that was it.

I am not complaining, just trying to understand how did that heppen.
