Do I need to critical imbue to get the bonus Merudri Nanbando (great flurry +8% critical extra damage)?

Do I need critical imbue on a weapon to get this bonus from armor? Or does the bonus work without critical imbue?

Description of the item suggests I need to do critical imbuement.

You don't necessarily need critical imbuement for it to work, because after a recent update all characters now have 5% chance of inflicting critical damage. However, to make this perk work better, it's almost mandatory to imbue your weapon with Powerful Strike, because the base 5% chance is too low to activate critical hits, and also having the Powerful Strike imbuement you get more critical extra damage, so it amplifies even more the damage you get from Great Flurry of Blows.
