Can you use a 'Cup of Molten Gold' on anything other than a Fir Cone?

Its well known that you can melt a Gold Ingot  at the Sweaty Cyclops to get a Cup of Molten Gold  ,  that you then use on as Fir Cone to possibly obtain a Golden Fir Cone  to possibly tame a White Deer.

My question is, can you use a Molten Cup of Gold on anything else?

Yes, You can use it on a fir tree, is it still possible to get the golden fir cone, but the chances as far as I saw are a little lower.
