Is it possible to have the same imbuement on a single item?

If an item has got two or more imbuing slots, can you apply the same imbuement to that item twice? If not, can you apply the stronger/weaker version of the same imbuement?

No to both questions, you can only have one version of an imbuement active at a time on the same item.
