Is there any way to check how many tainted souls have been freed for the Tainted Souls Quest?

Sometimes it's hard to tell whether a Tainted Soul is Freed or if it poofed because it's a summon.

Is there anywhere on quest log that shows how many tainted souls have been freed?

Yes, there is: 

1) Open your quest Log

2) Adventurers Guild 

3) The Tainted Souls

I recommend adding it to the quest tracker.
