I do not understand why the retro servers are empty? When Cip changed the PvP on open servers to this stupid "almostNonPvP" EVERYONE were complaining about it.

So please reply, you guys who have been playing for a long time and still choose OpenPvP. I want to know why!

Simple reason to be honest, Retro servers are "oldstyle" servers they are new as in player base and all the OpenPVP servers are old going as far as 2000s. People don't want to lose their progress, their community etc. They are all embroiled on each of the servers. Take Antica for example the most popular, oldest and probably the most fair server on Tibia, yes it has the new PvP rules but it also has its community, player base , no dominando etc.

And what you said about Antica, its also the most popular server to transfer a char to. I dont think people care about its community.
Dominando on OpenPvP? Is that even possible? Well let them kill you once or twice, then go back exping and take the exp back in about 10 minutes.

Open-pvp as it is right now isnt classic tibia most of US played. Thats The retro servers.
The new open-pvp with twist of fate, walking over players and mwalls, not getting pz when you attack a skull, The stupid unjust system and teamhunting without taking damage from eachother is unplayable if you ask me.
Thats why im asking WHY do old players playing it? I do not understand The fun except killing bosses from time to time.

The point is that even the retro servers are the classic ones , they are not the original servers eg Antica etc

First of all, remember that Open-PVP is the classic Tibia most of us played. We're used to the risk (and thrill) of being attacked by other players, within the limits of the PVP system. Hardcore-PVP encourages you to fight and kill others, which takes away from your ability to RPG and hunt more freely.

I feel like levels are a lot more meaningful on Open-PVP, and give you a greater sense of accomplishment. Being a higher level means you are safer from a more varied level of players, and makes you more of a threat and respected by others.

You could not be more wrong.
The current Open-PVP is not the "Tibia most of us played".
The only similarity is the name given to the system, the rest is brutally different.
The servers that best represent the classic Tibia are the "retro", where there is no "ghosting", yellow magic wall, pvp bless or any of these other nonsense that killed the essence of the game.

I think the players today don't want lose anything, If u see every update they complain about almost everything. All vocations want the best for them and the worst to the others, ppl say that nonpvp worlds are horrible to play, but they want to play pvp without penalties. Simply like that rsrs

Ye like in every damn game these days. World of warcraft for example, die, respawn, repair gear and you are fine again.
The funniest part of tibia was that it did hurt a lot to die, and when you kill someone they lose a lot.
Also there's gotta be a lot of toxic kids on Open-pvp? Those who understand that you loose NOTHING when you die by other players.

Retro PvP while being more PvP'y than the current OpenPvP is still very different from how the PvP system used to be. Many other players seem to agree. Neither PvP system is optimal, so we just don't feel like leaving what we've built up for something that's still not optimal.

Please tell me what you don't like with the retroPvP?
Well, not everything is like before, but its pretty close and totally playable.
You can still hunt annoying kids off the server for example.

I go more for technical factors:

1) There was a bunch of new Open PvP servers for South America recently. Remember that a good chunk of tibians are most likely to be brazilians nowadays. These servers were new and had the BattlEye on it since introduction, so it was a good deal to get there for a lot of people.

2) PvP servers (now called Open PvP) are where most of old accounts usually wanted to gather with friends in the past. Back in the day, Non-PvP were crowded and full of people invanding respaws and Hardcore PvP were absurdly violent places. Even desert servers (like Obsidia) or war servers (like Thoria) were fine under some circunstances if you know how to deal with low respawn speed and PK groups in your tail. I can talk about these two servers because I played on both of them back when they existed.

3) Most of Open PvP have ok economies to get a new character going, so prices aren't super inflactionated (Optional PvP situation) or simply barely existent (Zuna & Zunera). Of course, there are exceptions to it, but Open PvP economies are decent on most of the servers.

4) Retro PvP is somewhat good for some aspects, but frankly these servers would be a little bit better if they were 100% retro. This topic is a complex thing to explain but overall I don't see much appeal for the current Retro Open PvP (maybe in the future I will change my mind).

And last, even with dominant guilds kicking you from decent respawns periodically, getting to a Open PvP place is a server that allows to you to fight back and even revolt if you feel the need to do so without extreme stress and economic spenditure. Getting blocked by noob characters and getting an expensive death isn't really something that I want to happen nowadays, with an aging community that needs to work, take care of family, etc.
