What do the creature stacks mean in the Broken Moon Shards hunting ground?

What exactly are stacks gained on mobs meaning on the new hunting ground of Broken Moon shards?
Mobs at -2 are gaining some number of stacks, which I cant really find what they mean.

Every hit the creatures in this respawn receive it increases it’s own damage and it can stacks
