So, when I was a new player to Tibia in 2009, it was very well known (and people actually had tests done proving it. It is not my opinion) that the famous spell Light (Utevo Lux) was the one with less waste and more aggregation to the Magic Level bar, being so the most efficient spell for magic level training. Of course, Knights held this information as very valuable, since it would help their journey on getting a bigger Magic Level for Runes while using Utevo Lux on online training sessions against Slimes/Monks.... But nowadays, does it still the truth even with the addition of the new dawnport healing spell (Bruise Bane) that is cheaper? Maybe it do better on training online sessions as I described, but I can be wrong...

Back in the past, the progress towards your magic level was counted in chunks of 20 mana points. This meant that it was only optimal to use spells that are a multiple of 20, so 20, 40, 60, 80... and so on.

To illustrate:

  • If you cast a spell that required 20 mana points, you would receive 20 mana points progress towards your magic level
  • If you cast a spell that required 30 mana points, you would still only receive 20 mana points progress towards your magic level
  • If you cast a spell that required 40 mana points, you receive 40 mana points progress towards your magic level

The light spell cost was exactly 20 mana points and that's why it was most commonly used as an optimal spell to train magic level progress.

Nowadays, this is no longer a case! There are no spells that contribute better to your magic level progress or are more optimal than the others. No matter if you cast instant spells, make runes or use wands/rods, you are getting exactly as many mana points progress as you spend (not in chunks of 20).

Excellent answer! Do you know where I can read more about it? Maybe some kind of article or calculation about that?

Nice that I finally can see the logic on why I had to do this in the past, hahaha!

Unfortunately, I don't see this information in the official release/teaser news. There's just a confirmation that mana spent on wands/rods counts toward magic level progress - https://www.tibia.com/news/?subtopic=newsarchive&id=349 TibiaWiki also seems to confirm this answer - http://tibia.wikia.com/wiki/Training#Magic_Level
